Need ideas for survival traps?
I need to make a booklet-type 'survival guide' for my English class, based off the story 'The Most Dangerous Game.' The guide is supposed to address people who have been trapped on the island in the story, and how to survive for three days when being hunted by a man. In the story, the main character used traps to help survive, such as a pitfall and a deadfall. I'm having trouble finding other traps that would work on a person, because most traps that I've found are for smaller game, or require materials that you wouldn't have on the island (The main character is only given a knife and food before being hunted). So, traps that work for bigger game would be helpful. Websites or your own ideas or experiences are loved. Thanks!
The prey in that story has very little time to construct a trap. One of the fastest involves a noose attached to a springy bent-over sapling and held by a 3-pin trigger. The USAF has a survival manual that describes survival trapping better than I could. The same trigger could be used to release a bent thorn-bush. Not fatal but it lets you know where your adversary is.
