Quality Hunting
Does a big name school really mater as much when job hunting?
Or do you think that ultimately your skills, personality, and the quality of work you did at that school? For example will a person with a degree from Yale or Stanford have the edge over someone from Southern Ohio State? (Made up school!)
Tony B is spot on IMHO. Having conducted hundreds of job interviews I can say without hesitation it counts for little. You see there are no generally agreed way to compare grades from one school to those from another. Without such it is simply based on how well you did - not where you did it. I did my job hiring while working for the government. Since virtually anything is appealable there, if you can't justify it then you can't do it. Private enterprise employers don't have those constraints - but they are just as much in the dark about how to compare schools. Bottom line - it counts for a lot less than some would lead you to think.

Best to not get caught up in prestige for your undergrad and go to a highly ranked (not necessarily prestigious) school in what you are majoring in for your post grad.
