What is the difference in Army Parachutist Badge and Navy/ Marine Parachute badge?
I have noticed that there are some Navy and Marines that wear the same parachutist badge as the Army and some that wear the gold extended wings that are only issued by the Dept of the Navy. Does this mean that there is more training that Navy/ Marines get after they go through the US Army Airborne school?
The Navy/Marines go through jump school with the Army so the silver wings are the same for everyone. The gold jump wings are only for the Navy/Marines. It means they have done a certain amount more jumps and out of different types of aircraft. I don't know exactly what the qualification is, but you can read about it in this article on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachutist_Badge_%28United_States%29#Senior_Parachutist_Badge
